Pobre Ana Moderna Project

For my spanish class we did a project over the book, ¨ Pobre Ana.¨ Ana is the main character and her class is taking a trip from California to Guadalajara to Nayarit, Mexico. Previous to this project I knew little to nothing about Mexico, I only knew of the vacation attraction Cancun. In researching populations and labeling maps I learned that Mexico has states and capitals just like the United States. Mexico city, Mexico is the biggest city in Mexico and Guadalajara coming in at a close second. I researched ten places of Mexico that are highly recommended for people to go and experience. Two of the cities were straight from Nayarit which is where the character, Ana, from the book, will be ending up. If I could go to any place in Mexico I would suggest the Mayan Ruins and Tepic, Nayarit. If you love history like myself, the Mayan Ruins would the perfect site to see and learn more about. Tepic, Nayarit, looks like an amazing place to visit with older looking castle like buildings. After constructing this project, I have a much better understanding of Mexico and all the great things it comes with.

Malala

Bullies rise to power

Bullies rise to power when the victim is in fear and doesn’t fight back. As long as the bully knows that the victim is affected they will not stop. In  the book, “I Am Malala,”  the Taliban are like the bullies because they have brutally taken over Pakistan and controlling the people that live there . They have been punishing and flogging the Pashtun people if they don’t follow the Taliban’s way. Pakistan is living in fear and the Taliban have made them feel like they can’t fight back.

The Taliban bullies women in Pakistan by creating fear. Now, girls can’t go to school and get an education.  Malala stated   “All we wanted was a chance to learn in peace “ it shows how much Malala adores learning and school. She says it is such a privilege, and not many people get that opportunity.  The Taliban have also not allowed women to go out in public without a burka and  a man that she is related to. A example is , “ In a country where women aren’t allowed out in public without a man.”  They would be flogged or, beaten on the spot if they did not do so. Girls much like Malala are confused of the decision of not being able to attend school.

Fear didn’t stop Malala, she was different from the other girls she didn’t agree with her culture of having to cover their face when they get older. When she found out that the Taliban have let girls who are ten and younger go to school. She saw a perfect opportunity, with no hesitation, she had a plan.  Even though it was very dangerous and she could be beaten or even killed she lied and said she was in fourth grade. That’s how much she loved school. Malala had started being interviewed about all the fear and hopelessness the people had in Pakistan. Malala kept doing the interviews, but in order to protect her she had to change her name. There was a lot of fear in Pakistan, but not in Malala.

Even though bullies can hurt and affect a lot of people you can help prevent them from rising to power and do what you enjoy doing just like Malala did.

The Best Gift I Gave My Mom

The best gift I ever gave over the holidays was that I cleaned the dishes.  Just for my mom.  After she finally noticed I told that I did it all myself.  She was so happy and proud with a big smile on her face. It made me feel good that I did something nice for her.  I did it because she works so hard trying to go to school, work and take care of our family. I wanted to make her happy.  That was the best gift I ever gave my mom.

5th Grade Reflections

The thing that I reflected back on in 5th grade is what I learned this year and how it was fun. Well I learned lots of things like the producers and consumers in science, and the civil war in social studies, and lots of reading skills in reading, and how to add, multiply, divide, and subtracted fractions in math too. The fun things were the field trip to letourno university and field day too but i loved 5th after all I thought it would be hard but it was fun all year.

So Long 5th Grade

The most important thing I learned was all 50 states and capitals.

My favorite project was the field trip PBL.

I was most suprised by how fast the school year  had went by this year.

The thing I disliked the most was all the rain keeping us from going outside.
